Video search on candidates nearly mirrors electoral vote count

December 8, 2008 by Doug Mitchell

Wanna bet that 2 years from now (you know when the next Presidential race REALLY starts) that the Republican candidate will be studying the Obama machine?  You know that machine that raised 3/4 of a billion bucks to find the most organized and IT centric campaign in history.

The folks at ReelSEO reported on some great data that shows how video search results matched up with the electoral vote counts.  They analyzed a report from Prime Visibility.  It’s a GREAT read.

Here’s the money quote:

Politicians gearing for the 2010 season should be paying extra attention to the online video space and starting investing more of their campaigns into research, web-specific video production, and building social media buzz early.

It’s never too early.  January is a great time to get together over coffee or on Twitter.
