Hey so does this blogging and social media thing really drive new business?

December 15, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · 1 Comment

If you dive into blogging and social media with a pure “get more riches quickly” plan you’ll quickly burn out and give up.

If you refuse to keep up your end of the bargain, you will rot on the blog vine.

But if you have a good plan and a great site as a foundation and you simply share yourself and your excellent brand with the world, bring value to others, and provide open a two-way dialog with you market…great things happen.

Our client Ryan Irwin at Nutrisport – Full Potential training just told me today that another client contacted him after finding his web site and videos through google searches (the way most things are found these days right?)  Well get this…his new client is a few states away so Ryan has gone regional with his nutritional and training guidance in his super niche training people for natural fitness and bodybuilding shows.

So by sharing knowledge, providing value to a world of people you’ve never met, connecting through blogs and social media tools like twitter, and following through on a good online findability strategy…Ryan Irwin IS GROWING his business in our current economy.

That’s some serious mojo and we’re proud to be associated with him.  Right on team!

The pleasure of client success

November 19, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · Leave a Comment

So I pop into my feed reader this AM and find this post from client Ryan Irwin at Nutrisport – Full Potential Training.  In the post, ryan has not only embedded a video, he’s also leveraged the free Windows Movie Maker software to add the stock intro/outro that we created for him a few months back!

Our goal all along was to empower him to do whatever his resources allowed and execute on whatever else he needed from us. We felt so proud this morning and congratulate Ryan on “Taking his first steps into a larger world” (Say it with your best Obi Wan voice….come on!)

If you’re thinking “Man that ain’t nothin” I’d beg to differ.  Small and medium sized companies don’t often have the time and resources to execute on all of the wizardry that we media companies pull off.  Ryan has ratcheted up the new media presence with his blog and video and is seeing an impact on his business big time.  Economy down – Ryan up…you dig?

Is your goal to coach/assist/wow! clients into NO LONGER NEEDING YOUR SERVICES?  Our is.  If you believe that holding knowledge close to the vest builds lifetime client relationships and robust referrals and evangelism…I’d beg to differ.

Now off to that meeting Ryan has set up for us with a referral…catch you soon.

Calling Personal Trainers and Massage Therapists

October 8, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · Leave a Comment

The createWOW! team had a blast working with Nutrisport – Full Potential Training to: (case study here)

  1. Create a powerful and findable blog based website
  2. Coach, train, and explain the benefits and strategies behind social media marketing
  3. Shoot, edit, and produce a company intro video that represented NutriportFPT’s brand and image.

We had so much fun that we’d really like to work with more of you!  I’ve spent the last couple years tweaking on the old body and trying to make real lifelong…lifestyle changes so I know my way around a training studio.  My latest challenge began October 1.

I’ve also worked closely on the nutritional requirements to support various types of activities including triathlon and long distance cycling.  Overwhelmingly, trainers get new business via word of mouth but almost ALL of them I know could use more “mouths.”

To keep my body in harmony, I’ve leveraged massage for years now and spoken with lots of “ready to get out on their own” therapists at the local massage school in town Body Wisdom.  My assessment is that although the topics like blogging and social media are touched on in class there’s no game plan laid out for students.  So when they join the hundreds of therapists out there trying to differentiate (and not die) in the Des Moines market (or anywhere for that matter,) they end up with “day jobs.”

So we’d like to extend the lose and fully relaxed arm of friendship to you massage therapists (new or highly experienced.)  To our personal trainer friends, we’d like to extend a tight and heavily muscled arm of brute strength and power!

Maybe we can help you get busy, profitable, and known.  Let’s talk about your brand and what makes you…well….you.  New niche?  We wouldn’t mind that at all.  There’s nothing like working for motivated masters of their own bodies.

Case Study: Nutrisport FPT (Full Potential Traning)

September 22, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · Leave a Comment

Case Study:  Nutrisport – Full Potential Training

Nutrisport – Full Potential Training is a nutritional supplement shop and personal training studio located at 9992 Swanson Blvd, Clive, IA 50325.  Owner/Manager Ryan Irwin gains new clients almost exclusively through word-of-mouth.  While WOM advertising demonstrates clients’ happiness with NutrisportFPT, Ryan has room to grow revenues by adding additional clients for his classes and personal training sessions.

Nutrisport FPT Challenges:

  1. Ryan didn’t have a consistent marketing methodology to back up and reinforce his message.
  2. NutrisportFPT lacked a web presence other than the online supplement store at www.fptnutrition.com.
  3. Ryan knows that the personal training, gym, and nutritional supplements sectors are very competitive and continuing to add new entrants to the local market each year.
  4. Ryan wants to differentiate himself and show the greater market why people refer so much business to him but didn’t know how to maximize the effectiveness of available social media technologies and platforms.
  5. Ryan wanted to use video in promoting his business but didn’t have the time nor expertise to start shooting and producing good quality video.

createWOWmedia Proposed Solutions:

Ryan engaged createWOWmedia after we recommended the following solutions:

  1. Zoom in on the brand qualities that make Ryan and Nutrisport FPT so successful at word-of-mouth business generation.  Identify the key words that truly described and supported Ryan’s business.
  2. Create a blog based corporate website at www.nutrisportFPT.com.  The createWOW team showed Ryan the power of “organic search findability” through consistent blogging and use of social media tools.  But we needed to ensure that Ryan wasn’t overloaded with new work on tools that had little impact.
  3. Create a company introduction video that amplified the Nutrisport FPT brand.  The video including scripting, shooting onsite, editing, voice over, and music.
  4. Create a series of 1 minute “training tips” that are released weekly.  We proposed recording these in one large batch and creating reusable “intro and outro” clips so post-production is quick and cost-effective.
  5. Leverage our Online Reputation Management (ORM) solution (powered by 48Web) to track “buzz” about Ryan’s brand today and over time so we can chart progress.

Impact on NutrisportFPT and Results:

  • The blog site and videos just went live on September 18, 2008
  • Ryan is receiving emails already from people who’ve seen his “Training Tip Videos” online.
  • Ryan has been coached in how to leverage Tubemogul to upload his videos to multiple social video sites with a couple of clicks.
  • The NutrisportFPT team has a new marketing process for potential clients that walk through the door that includes offering a website feed subscription to each visitor and pointing every single person to the website for training tips and videos.
  • We’ll be posting tangible results numbers here as they become available.

Welcome to the family Ryan and Mandee.  Thanks for your business, your support, and an ongoing and fruitful relationship.
