We’ve Figured Out Some Gaps In Our Customer Experience…and We’re Changing
April 7, 2009 by Doug Mitchell · Leave a Comment
It’s not about NOT making mistakes right? It’s about fixing what caused them in the first place and not repeating. Well, our team has figured out a few areas in which we’re not as good as we thought we were.
- Project Management. We have made the assumption incorrectly that our clients automatically know “how things go when rolling out a web site, etc.”
- Video. We have made the assumption that everyone knows the process of creating a brand presence with video and haven’t done more granular expectation setting/review.
We’re learning every day and have done a deeper debrief and dissection of our efforts and are taking steps to tighten them up to create even more of that WOW experience for clients. We can’t get everything right…but we’re striving to create unique and memorable brand experiences for you.
Maximizing email newsletter subscribers with aweber.com
December 16, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · Leave a Comment
So if you’ve visited us for the first time, you probably were confronted within 5 seconds with an “email subscribe” box and a grayed out site. This is a nifty feature in the email marketing system from aweber. (we are an affiliate and this is an affiliate link because we believe strongly in this product and recommend it heavily). Some people probably find this “insta-pop” annoying. We understand. We’re assuming that you have limited time so we’re giving you a quick out, in exchange for permission to market to you. Straight forward we think.
The proof is in the pudding. Email subscriptions up 500%. We hope you’ll subscribe too. There’s a box down by the comments of this post if you’d care to join our little small and medium sized business online branding revolution.
Leveraging an email marketing system is a MUST if you’re planning to amplify your brand. Aweber goes a long way to helping companies do this in a non-technical/non-threatening way.
Small business owner Ryan Irwin on working with create WOW media
November 21, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · 1 Comment
It has been so pleasurable to work with Ryan and the team at Nutrisport Full Potential Training. We asked Ryan to share his thoughts on our journey together. You know it’s a big decision for a small family owned independent business to embark on a journey into blogging, video, and social media to really ramp up its Internet Findability Factor.
We’re humbled and honored that he agreed to talk with us on film. Take a moment to watch this short video. We think it conveys some of the mojo that we like to generate for small and medium sized companies.

Directing Tips
September 11, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · Leave a Comment
At createWOWmedia, we focus on the business reasons for producing video for your small business BEFORE
we begin formulating the creative aspects of the piece. This approach serves small-to-medium businesses very well because it delivers results…on time…and on budget.
We’re also hugely in favor of you (the SMB) doing your OWN video when it makes sense. As such, here are some great Directing Tips from www.FilmDirectingTips.com
Some of the tips may be a bit too “touchy feely” for the content you’re trying to create…but there’s some great stuff in here.

createWOWmedia client: Nutri-Sport & Full Potential Training in the news
September 4, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · Leave a Comment
It’s a really cool feeling when you first become an incredibly satisfied client of a company, then build a relationship, then become a partner in providing services to that firm. That’s exactly what happened between me and the folks at Nutri-Sport.
We’ll soon be releasing a case study of our work with Nutri-Sport FPT. Owner Ryan Iriwin seems to be generating quite a bit of press on his own as seen here in the Des Moines Register.
Ryan is a competitive natural bodybuilder and is shown in the piece dead lifting 535lbs. Yeah…he weighs 165lbs. Fuggetaboutit right!
We’re proud to be working together with Ryan and can’t wait to unleash his new multimedia presence on the web including a new blog based website, company introduction video, and a ton of great video blogs that will be released regularly.
Great job guys!
Scripting a Multimedia Video Production for a Small Business
August 28, 2008 by paulgratton · Leave a Comment
Background
This week I’m working on a script for Nutri-Sport -Full Potential Training, a great personal training studio/nutrition/supplement store just off of Swanson and 100th Street in Clive, Iowa.
When I first chatted with Ryan Irwin, natural bodybuilder and owner of FPT, I was impressed by his perspective and real desire to help people look and feel their best.
The challenge
The only challenge with Ryan’s business is that not enough people know about the high level of quality, passion, and expertise Ryan has. It’s hard to stand out in a crowd, even when you’re packed with muscle and able to bench press 300 pounds…weighing in at a crisp 165lbs!
Our approach
That’s why I listened very carefully to Ryan as he described his business and goals. I picked out key words that kept coming up as Ryan talked about what excited him about his local, independent business.
In the script I chose to “amplify” the most vivid, descriptive, and appealing themes Ryan used to describe his own business. He used words like “full potential,” “achieve more,” “personalized nutrition,” and “accountability.”
The results
When you see the finished video in a few weeks (we’ll post it right here on the createWOWmedia blog) you’ll find these word and ideas reinforced by the visuals and text added. Watch as we emphasize Ryan’s core strengths, making his genuine and winning personality shine through.
It makes us happy. We think it’ll make Ryan happy…and more successful.

We’ve had many great discussions on summarizing what it is that we provide for clients here at createWOWmedia. We’ve come up with a decidedly simple phrase:
