Are you still advertising in the newspaper?
January 21, 2009 by Doug Mitchell
I was chatting with a friend today. He put a nice sized ad in the only paper in town here in the Des Moines metro area, the Des Moines Register. One person called because of it. Did it reach more people? Likely. Will he ever know or do it again? Not likely.
No measurement. No results. No future.

They keys to your point are: No Measurement and No Results. Did he reach more people? Maybe? But you’d never know – that’s just what the paper wants you to think. The question is – how much was it? And how much money could he have saved if he’d re-purposed that budget for an internet marketing campaign?
By the way it’s not the only paper in town
Go CityView!
Exactly. You know I’m talking “major” paper
He’ll never know. By the way, he IS a web client of mine now too so he won’t be engaging in that folly anymore! (If you work in newspaper advertising, please feel free to comment.
