create WOW media Chief Brand Amplifier Doug Mitchell Speaks at Drake on Entrepreneurship
November 25, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · 1 Comment
Tom Swartwood was gracious enough to ask me to speak at his Drake Entrepreneurship class on November 18, 2008. It’s been a while since I interacted with a room full of 18-22 year olds and even though I pride myself on being fairly savvy…there were moments when I felt like the guy with Bermuda shorts and loafers.
The message of the talk was that entrepreneurs need to ASK for help. It shows strength…not weakness…to demonstrate your desire to make progress.
If you have a few moments, take a peek at the video.

Small business owner Ryan Irwin on working with create WOW media
November 21, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · 1 Comment
It has been so pleasurable to work with Ryan and the team at Nutrisport Full Potential Training. We asked Ryan to share his thoughts on our journey together. You know it’s a big decision for a small family owned independent business to embark on a journey into blogging, video, and social media to really ramp up its Internet Findability Factor.
We’re humbled and honored that he agreed to talk with us on film. Take a moment to watch this short video. We think it conveys some of the mojo that we like to generate for small and medium sized companies.
The pleasure of client success

So I pop into my feed reader this AM and find this post from client Ryan Irwin at Nutrisport – Full Potential Training. In the post, ryan has not only embedded a video, he’s also leveraged the free Windows Movie Maker software to add the stock intro/outro that we created for him a few months back!
Our goal all along was to empower him to do whatever his resources allowed and execute on whatever else he needed from us. We felt so proud this morning and congratulate Ryan on “Taking his first steps into a larger world” (Say it with your best Obi Wan voice….come on!)
If you’re thinking “Man that ain’t nothin” I’d beg to differ. Small and medium sized companies don’t often have the time and resources to execute on all of the wizardry that we media companies pull off. Ryan has ratcheted up the new media presence with his blog and video and is seeing an impact on his business big time. Economy down – Ryan up…you dig?
Is your goal to coach/assist/wow! clients into NO LONGER NEEDING YOUR SERVICES? Our is. If you believe that holding knowledge close to the vest builds lifetime client relationships and robust referrals and evangelism…I’d beg to differ.
Now off to that meeting Ryan has set up for us with a referral…catch you soon.
Join Us Tomorrow Night for the Sneak Peak at the Quantitative Internet Findability Factor
November 18, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · Leave a Comment
If you’re in the Des Moines metro area tomorrow evening, Wednesday the 19th of November, join our Iowa Entrepreneurs Meet up Group for a chat focused on “Increasing Your Internet Findability Factor”. Your friendly host is going to provide a new quantitative approach to measuring and enhancing YOUR online Findability. I somehow knew that my 6 Sigma Black Belt would come in handy.
I knew I was onto something with this topic when Paul kind of had that “Awwwwyahhhh” look when I explained my new approach to this oft discussed topic around the office and with clients. You see Paul is a 6 Sigma Black Belt too and I do think behind his creative exterior…there lies an man who can really appreciate some serious regression analysis. Personally, I like to stick with the Business Process Mapping and Ishikawa Diagrams…but I regress.
You’ll find a huge value to this talk if you are:
- A small company trying to increase presence and credibility.
- A member of a larger company trying to assume brand leadership in the market place.
- A solopreneur/entrepreneur trying to build an online brand.
- An individual trying to create and actively drive a personal brand.
I want you to be one of the FIRST people to receive the special report, “Increasing Your Internet Findability Factor”. Just fill in the form below…and you’ll be in the know.
I really hope we can meet in person. If not, please consider subscribing to our email updates in the box below this post.

Part II of Podcast with Adam Steen of 25 Connections
November 9, 2008 by Doug Mitchell · 1 Comment
Seth Godin had a great post that was short and sweet the other day. It was called A Friend In Need and it goes right along with my conversation with Adam. It’s a tiny powerful post so I hope he doesn’t mind that copy its entirety here (if yes I’ll remove it Seth). Seth Godin said,
Your customers and employees and investors will remember how you treated them when times were tough, when they needed a break, when a little support meant everything.
No one in particular will remember how you acted during the boom times.
During my chat w/Adam, we hit on this topic too. Adam lays out how to follow up and build relationships now…while things are less than easy out there.
Please take a listen.
